What issue area are you most passionate about? Which do you know the most about? (Immigration, environment, woman’s rights, mental health, LGBTQ rights, etc.):
I am passionate about climate change. I believe that there are many things that we as humans can do to help this issue. As simple as just having a garden full of greens to trap the carbon in the soil. We can also compost our food and turn it into rich healthy soil so that it can grow healthy grass and trap more carbon. Not only that but support regenerative agriculture that works with nature instead of against it. With regenerative agriculture it focuses on the soil health that helps grow crops in a better way for our environment and ecosystem.
What activities do like to do regularly as a pastime?
When I'm not doing schoolwork or volunteering, I like to spend time with my family specially going on hikes and eating out on the streets of SLO. Since most of the good hikes are in the area. Going shopping for some retail therapy has become one of my hobbies now with my sister. You can also find me hanging out with friends regularly outside of school because not worrying about schoolwork is so healing. I also love hanging out by myself by doing trips to the library, a bit of skin care, journaling, and gardening.
What clubs/organizations/sports/job are you involved with outside of youth making change?
At school I am a part of avid class of 2023. I am very actively involved in FFA I this year I will be serving as the Santa Barbara Sectional FFA treasurer. I am also part of the hiking & environment club at school and Astra which is a community service club. When it comes to volunteering, I usually go to my local church where I am a catechist, teen court, and always finding local opportunities. Due to the pandemic, I haven't really found many volunteering opportunities so if you know of one let me know!!
