Isa Alarcon, Board Member

Isa Alarcon

Name: Isa Alarcon

Age: 16

School: Carpinteria High School

What issue area are you most passionate about? Which do you know the most about?  (Immigration, environment, woman’s rights, mental health, LGBTQ rights, etc.):

Coming from a Hispanic household, I am very passionate about cultural appreciation and promoting diversity in our school system. But also passionate about creating just, equitable campuses in our community for everyone. As being a part of two different minority groups, I love to advocate for woman's rights as well.

What activities do like to do regularly as a pastime?

Some hobbies that I have developed have been working out, baking, cooking, editing videos, and of course listening to music. I try to engage in at least 2 of these activities a day.

What clubs/organizations/sports/job are you involved with outside of youth making change?

I am involved in Cheerleading and Track & Field at my high school, as well as being Senior Class President in my school ASB and am also a leader of Celebrating Adversity Diversity and Education (CADE), a cross-cultural club at CHS. I am also currently a member of the Girls Inc. Eureka! Program that builds girls’ confidence and skills. I also helped found Diversify Our Narrative - Carpinteria to combat racism in the Carpinteria School District.
