What issue area are you most passionate about? Which do you know the most about? (Immigration, environment, woman’s rights, mental health, LGBTQ rights, etc.):
One of the issues I’m particularly passionate about is educational inequity. Low-income students and children of color disproportionately face a lack of resources which prohibits them from exceeding their full potential, directly increasing the opportunity gap as a result. Addressing this issue is crucial because it intersects with so many other systemic disparities including, but not limited to, economic inequality, mass incarceration, and food insecurity.
What activities do like to do regularly as a pastime?
In my free time, I try my best to keep myself busy. I love to bake, whether it’s for myself, friends, family, etc. That and listening to music brings me so much joy. I’m also fond of reading, running, and spending time outside with nature.
What clubs/organizations/sports/job are you involved with outside of youth making change?
I’m currently in my second year of volunteering as a CIT at Fun in the Sun. Working with the kids and being able to leave a positive impact on their lives has definitely been one of the most rewarding experiences ever. At school, I’m a part of the San Marcos Entrepreneurship Academy, vice president of my AVID class, involved with BSU/Ethnic Studies Club/Direct Relief Club, and a middle distance runner on the Track and Field team.
