I have spent over 30 years working with individuals and families navigating the transitions through the life cycle. My specialty areas have focused on those moments of crisis, change, and growth such as adolescents and young adults forming a sense of identity and purpose as they separate from their families of origin; couples creating intimate relationships as they strive to maintain a sense of autonomy and independence; and families going through the separation and divorcing process, with its complex mixture of loss and hopefulness.
My theoretical approach has been from a psychodynamic, insight-oriented base and has included deep introspective and interpersonal work, as well as a playful exploration into the worlds of creativity and dreams.
Over the years, I have taught undergraduate and graduate classes at Antioch University and supervised psychology students at UCSB Hosford Clinic and currently, at New Beginnings Counseling Center. I have served as a Founding Board Member of Court- Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Santa Barbara, a Board Member of the Children’s Creative Project and am currently a Board Member of the Fund for Santa Barbara.
I enjoy yoga, pilates, art, film, literature, travel, and being a member of this vibrant Santa Barbara community.
