David has a B.A. in Political Science & American Government from Claremont Men’s College and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. He practiced law in Santa Barbara in the 1980s; was President and Owner of Menda Scientific Products, Inc. through the 1990s; Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics from 2001-2005; Executive Director of the Environmental Defense Center from 2007-2012; Managing Partner of the Social Venture Partners of Santa Barbara in 2014, and has recently retired. David served on the Santa Barbara Water Commission from 1987-89 and on its City Council from 1989-91. He was the office manager for Lois Capps for Congress in her first two Congressional campaigns; as campaign manager for Susan Rose for Supervisor, No on ‘S-99;’ No on ‘H’ (S.B. County Split), and has served on the Board and as Treasurer (among many other positions) of CPA, EDC, the Fund for Santa Barbara, League of Women Voters, Congregation B’nai B’rith and the Democratic Central Committee, among several other local organizations.
