Think of all the causes you hold near and dear.
From humanitarian aid and education to animal welfare and combating homelessness, it's no secret that Santa Barbara County has a plethora of leadership in philanthropy.
Many local organizations hope to raise online donations next week as part of “Giving Tuesday Now,” a new day to celebrate generosity and to support nonprofit organizations that keep communities afloat. The global campaign focused on generosity pivoted to address the immediate and increasing needs of nonprofit groups.
“Giving Tuesday Now” will occur Tuesday — in addition to the scheduled Dec. 1 campaign — as an emergency response to the nonprofit world's unprecedented need in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Fund for Santa Barbara isn't hosting a specific online campaign next week, but the nonprofit foundation is engaging the giving community.
“The pandemic amplifies the inequities marginalized communities continue to face and has drawn heightened attention to societal shortcomings that must be permanently fixed,” said Alina Rey, the organization's communications manager. “The need for our work has never been more evident not just to us, but to our growing community that is seeing these inequities now more than ever.
"In order for us to continue our critical work, we are calling on our donor community for support during this time.”
