The Fund for Santa Barbara

Gary Clark

Technical Assistance Program Manager

Gary Clark joined the Fund for Santa Barbara staff in 2008 after a decade of holding marketing & business development roles at software developer QAD.

He is a native of the Sonoma Valley and came to Santa Barbara in 1989 to attend UCSB. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication as well as an Associate of Arts in French.

Inspiration for Gary's advocacy on behalf of the disenfranchised and marginalized stems from the privilege of having gay uncles who led by example with their courage to speak out against injustice and engage in both activism and philanthropy.

Gary first discovered what it meant to be an advocate through the HIV/AIDS crisis and its continued impact on his family. His experience in the non-profit sector started with volunteering for and serving on the Board of Directors of New Directions for people with disabilities, Inc. and he has held leadership roles with Lit Moon Theatre Company, Summer Solstice Celebration, the corporate giving committee at QAD Inc. as well as a civic advisory role with the Santa Barbara Parks & Recreation Dept. In addition, he has served as Chair of the Santa Barbara Equality Project and is the current Chair of the OUTrageous! / Santa Barbara LGBTQ Film Festival.

When not advocating and/or organizing in the community, he can usually be found on a tennis court or a hiking trail.
