Support for this one-day (Saturday, February 6, 2010), county-wide strategy summit organized by the LGBT Community Collaborative of the Central Coast and focusing on LGBT community strengths, needs and next steps in Santa Barbara County

Environmental Education Group / A Dialogue For Peace - $3,000
Support for this pilot project which opened a direct line of communication between the American and Iraqi people (students at University of California, Santa Barbara and Islamic University, Baghdad) via a webcast  and allowed for unscripted communication between the two groups

"Stand In The Sand" / A Gathering for the Gulf - $3,000
Seed funding for this community-wide grassroots effort to make a statement of support, sympathy, and solidarity with the communities of the Gulf Coast who are being devastated by the BP Oil Disaster and to raise funds for relief and recovery

Funding to support free dance classes for youth at Harding, McKinley and Franklin Schools plus select Housing Authority sites

Manauia - Youth Legal Awareness Project - $2,900
Funding to provide legal awareness to youth in Santa Barbara’s Westside and Eastside neighborhoods and address perceptions of youth based on appearance, race and class

Project Excel - Youth Tutoring Center - $2,200
Funding for a center for youth in grades 5 to 12 providing tutoring and educational assistance

Funding for educational forums and trainings on youth/teen rights, how to defend them and becoming a peer advocate for other teens

Funding for a youth-led one-day leadership conference for junior high students that will help promote Latinos moving on to higher education

Pioneer Valley High School Link Crew - $800
Funding for a year-long student-led freshman mentor program linking juniors and seniors with incoming freshman to increase graduation rates, freshman involvement at PVHS, and to decrease suspensions, violence and drop out rates

CE’ENI (Colectivo Educativo Estudiantil de Naciones Indigenas) – Lente Cultural - $1,200
Funding for a multicultural art and music event organized by Mexican Indigenous youth that will be documented and shared with the Santa Maria community (translation: Educational Collective of Students of Indigenous Nations - in Mixteco “ce’eni” means: sus hijos / their children)

Funding for a mentorship project where homeless and foster teens mentor younger youth dealing with homelessness and the foster system
